About Wild Rufus Records PDF Print E-mail
Wild Rufus Records was founded in 1979 by Matt Brown. It has always been family owned and operated in the quaint seaside town of Camden, Maine. On October 10th, 2001, I purchased Wild Rufus and became its' sixth owner. In April of 2006, I moved the business from the bayview location to Main Street which is actually Route One, (which is coincidentally the longest road on the East Coast extending from Fort Kent, Maine to Key West, Florida.)
Wild Rufus records is one of the largest independently (read: not a chain) owned music shops in Maine. We specialize in the eclectic. Our firm belief is that there is and should always be "all kinds of music for all kinds of people." We carry a very wide selection of Jazz, folk, blues, reggae, ska, punk, world, metal, rap & hip-hop, bluegrass and all kinds of rock and pop and all the sub-genres. We carry some classical, country, comedy and spoken word as well. We boast a large section of local MAINE artists music as well. And those are just the "new" CD's. We carry every possible genre of used CD's.
Currently in store we have around 20,000 used LP's and used 45's (and we are buying more every week). This is and always will be a HUGE attraction to Wild Rufus. We love the vinyl here! We sell turntables and some other vinyl-associated accessories. Believe it or not we even sell many NEW LP's- for instance, the new Shins record came out on vinyl.
We also carry hundreds upon hundreds of used movie titles on DVD. (We even have some VHS.) We have a smattering of used video games and a huge pile of used cassettes. We recently started carrying a huge pile of t-shirts. Many bands are represented as well as some political satire and other fun styles.
Easily accessible and open 7 days a week (except February to May we're closed on Sundays) we are proud to serve our loyal customer base and readily welcome new customers with our bright and shiny smiles. (Maybe I layed it on a little thick there- hahaha!) Anyway, please come give us a visit in person or on the web. We sell a ton of stuff via mail order all over the World. Hopefully, we'll see you soon in person or over here at www.wildrufus.com
